Sue Oakley Registered and Accredited Counsellor, Member BACP
Welcome to my small private practice located in a quiet area of Chandlers Ford. My aim is to provide you with a place in which you can feel safe, where any difficulties you bring are always treated with respect, held in confidence and accepted in an understanding and non-judgemental manner. We work together to build up a trusting relationship so that the possibility of new choices and a way ahead can become clear for you.
I am a qualified and experienced relationship counsellor and see couples together or partners on their own. My background is in education and I have spent many years using counselling skills with children in schools, students in college and university, and with adults of all ages. I am also qualified to help those with special needs and learning difficulties that may be causing anxiety, anger and low self-esteem. I hold an Enhanced Criminal Record Certificate renewed in May 2018. Depression, anxiety, stress, panic attacks, phobias, abuse and bullying are just a few of the problems that can give us such a hard time and cause misery. I can support you and help you deal with these and other difficulties.
Over the past two years I have undertaken training with Barnardo's/LINK Adoption Service and am now a registered adoption support counsellor, qualified to assist those who have been affected by adoption, for example whose who have been adopted (adoptees), adoptive family members and birth family members.
My sessions last a full hour and I take part in regular training and supervision to keep my skills and knowledge relevant and up-to-date. I am an Integrative therapist which means I am trained in a number of different approaches. This gives me a choice of ways to help you, tailored to your individual needs, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which can be very effective, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples.
