About me

I am a UKCP registered counsellor and psychotherapist. I offer a safe and containing space for long term relational therapy to explore the origins of emotional difficulties. I also work short term to help you cope with an immediate difficult circumstance.

I work with a wide range of problems including anxiety, trauma, relationship problems, depression, bereavement, life crisis and low self-esteem. I am a climate aware psychotherapist and can offer a safe and supportive space to acknowledge, understand and process the very real feelings of anxiety and grief that the changing nature of the earth's climate provokes.

I believe that therapy does not need to be mysterious. Clarity is important for you to feel comfortable and to know that you and your needs are in focus. We will actively discuss the model which might best meet your needs.

Successful therapy depends on you feeling listened to and heard, and having the time and space to tell your story. This is a two way process because therapy is built on a partnership between two active participants. It’s important that you have the right environment to identify exactly what will be best for our therapy partnership.

I have worked with hundreds of people from different backgrounds, cultures and ways of thinking. I am skilled at making a connection quickly and establishing a safe and shared understanding of what is important and meaningful to you. I am down to earth and approachable as well as experienced, qualified, professional and ethical.

Together we will identify the form of therapy which you feel most comfortable with and the time frame which is going to work for you. You may have long standing issues which you want to explore more deeply over a longer period of time. We will discuss a strategy and agree a schedule to review progress towards your goals.

As we start to work together, different issues and questions may arise. We will focus on what is most pressing for you and which style of working feels right to you. I will give you feedback and thoughts as we progress and will encourage you to do the same, so you are in control of the process.

Training, qualifications & experience

I studied at The Minster Centre and have an MA (Middlesex University) and Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy (2009).

I am registered with the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) Reg No 2011162573.

I have 11 years’ experience of working in GP practices offering counselling and practical support to people affected by trauma, dislocation from their origins, relationship breakdown or difficulties, depression, bereavement, physical disability, learning difficulties, autism, personality disorders and other adverse life circumstances.

Prior to training as a therapist I worked for more than twenty years in organisations in the voluntary sector giving information related to disability, pregnancy and parenting.

I have trained as a supervisor at CSTD and currently work supervising trainees in a Women's Counselling Service and also as a private supervisor to trained therapists.
