Hi, my name is Sue Eley, I am an experienced counsellor/psychotherapist and mindfulness trainer. I will listen and help you to understand your problems. Together we will work to identify the changes you may wish to make, in a calm, confidential and safe space.
I have worked for 25 years with individuals, couples, families and young people in a variety of settings. These have included, working with victims of bullying, domestic violence and adult survivors of childhood abuse and associated conditions of stress, anxiety, depression, anger etc.
Whilst working for Social Care & Health with families and young people experiencing difficulties, I realised the better able I was to listen and communicate the better the results. To this end I undertook training in Solution Focused Brief Therapies, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, etc. This led me to my formal training in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Southampton University.
More recently I have undertaken extensive training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, culminating in my Teacher Training Level 1 at Bangor University
I run my own counselling practice in Weymouth, working 1-1 with all age groups,
I am a Mindfulness practitioner and run Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) courses. These are 9 week courses, using Finding Peace in a Frantic World, by Mark Williams as the core book. These can be run either individually, 1-1, small groups, organisations, industries, schools, large or small etc.
My practice continues to evolve, with positive results, with adults, young people, couples and groups.
Issues I work with include:- anger, anxiety, panic attacks, stress, depression, health issues, couples counselling, changing circumstances, bereavement and loss, family conflicts, life coaching, work related issues, school and exam stress, bullying and friendships.
I offer a fully integrative approach. Following your inquiry you will be invited to a free initial session, which allows us to explore your concerns and plan how we may work together.
Some people find a few weekly sessions, 6-8 to be enough. Others, may choose to run through the Mindfulness course or indeed, come for longer. At the initial session we would assess and agree your individual needs, expected outcomes and timescales.
I offer counselling, face to face, by telephone or skype, which ever is more convenient for you.
I also offer relationship counselling to couples and families.
