About me
Counselling can make a significant difference to the quality of your life, helping you find greater meaning and personal satisfaction. You may be trying to cope with life changes, low self-esteem or hopelessness and the many other challenges we face in life.
You may feel frightened or unsure if you are considering starting counselling as placing your trust in another may be new to you, but this will be the foundation of a relationship which will support you to explore the meaning of your experiences both past and present.
I offer a sensitive and impartial space in which the difficulties you may be be experiencing can be identified, collaboratively explored and worked through. Understanding the meaning of our experiences and how they may cause us suffering are the first steps towards gaining symptom relief, lasting change and the freedom to live our lives more fully.
I have 30 years experience working within the NHS as a Registered Nurse and offer my knowledge and experience to those suffering with long-term illnesses and terminal illness.
I am an Integrative counsellor which means I can use varying therapeutic models to help you make better sense of your feelings.
Our initial meeting will give you an idea of what counselling is about and will be an opportunity for you to explore your hopes and expectations. If counselling feels right for you at this time, we can agree on the time, frequency and cost of sessions and confidentiality issues.
I abide by the BACP ethical framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I offer both long and short-term face-to-face counselling and I am flexible with daytime and evening appointments.
I also visit private homes, hospitals, nursing homes and residential care homes.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
