About me

My aim is to provide a safe space that is non-judgmental, where I encourage you to be yourself, develop confidence and find resolution. My job is to facilitate this by acknowledging and validating you to help you find and rediscover your strengths and resources.

Perhaps a bit like a jigsaw puzzle, remembering your edges and filling in the missing pieces. I am really interested in people's stories and one of my skills is to help individuals communicate their stories and transform aspects that are causing pain. I will not just sit and listen but will make creative suggestions to help you move forward. I am trained in Body Psychotherapy and Somatic Practice, so I offer a holistic approach to working with mind, body and soul. For those clients who prefer to work outside, we can start in my therapy room and move to the local beach/river, which is a few minutes' walk away.

I have over 30 years experience of working with individuals and couples covering a range of different issues. I feel I am warm, approachable and empathic and can also work alongside an individual's creativity according to need. Your story is different from everyone else's.

I offer Counselling for people experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, difficulties in relationships, identity and gender issues, bereavement and loss, and lack of self-esteem and confidence. This can be either short term or longer term work.

Most of my clients are individuals who are willing to embrace change and maybe take a risk and try something different, people who are building and strengthening emotional intelligence and people who want to focus at a deeper level and get a greater understanding of themselves.

I also offer Psychotherapy for individuals who need to explore deeper-rooted aspects relating to their childhood, or anything that has not been resolved that is impacting on an individual's ability to live their full potential.

I completed a Shamanic Practitioner Training 18 months ago and now also offer Shamanic Counselling which is using Journeying with my drum. This is short term work of 6 sessions and can be a very empowering experience for individuals.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
