About me

Hi! I’m Stuart, a BACP qualified and compassionate person-centred therapist. If you’re reading this, you’ve taken the courageous first step towards positive change, and I would love to help you continue your journey towards self-care, transformative growth and acceptance.

Together we will create a safe, empathetic environment where you’ll feel comfortable, respected, and supported in every session. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, short-term issues or complex, persisting issues, I’m here to listen to you and offer gentle guidance as you begin to move forward and work towards resolution and acceptance.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I have also experienced many of the issues we face; such as identity exploration and acceptance, relationships, family dynamics and life transitions. I would be honoured to help you navigate any of these challenges and changes yourself.

I strongly believe in the power of a therapeutic relationship, where you’ll feel heard, valued, and empowered to find solutions and develop greater self-awareness. My aim is to help you also find value in this power, as we take these next steps together.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a Graduate in Psychotherapy and BACP registered member, I have helped clients through a range of challenges, whether that be short-term situational issues or long-standing battles. I have found that I am particularly passionate about guiding and supporting people through bereavement and LGBTQ+ issues, as they resonate deeply with me.

Our sessions will be 50 minutes long, and I offer an initial 20 minute session free of charge to allow us to get to know each other. This gives you the opportunity to decide whether I am the right counsellor for you and helps me to understand your needs.

I am trained in Person-Centred counselling, to ensure the focus will be on you as a whole and your own personal experience. We will tailor each session to your needs, to guarantee that you get the most out of our time together.

I aim to help you better understand yourself and your experiences, so you can make positive changes in your life and become happier, more fulfilled and resilient.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
