About me

Hi I'm Steven, an Integrated Counsellor, which means I am skilled to work with my clients in various methods to suit the individual. My main aim for successful counselling/therapy to take place is to develop a strong therapeutic relationship then integrating whatever method/approach works well for the client.

I specialise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy,  (CBT), working with Emotions,  Emotional change, Thoughts, (cognition), Behaviours, (Behavioural).

I`m currently taking clients; face to face, Walk & Talk, Zoom, telephone sessions

Life is complicated and and sometimes makes no sense, We struggle to keep things together; Relationships, work, Thoughts, Feelings. can sometimes make us feel stuck and lost, to the point we can struggle to identify who we actually are!

Feeling out of control, scared, Anxious/Stressed/depressed.  Perhaps feeling there's no place for you in this world, or do not fit in with others. if this is you then give me a call, your problems are waiting for someone like myself to be explored in a non-judgemental, safe, respectful environment.

Training, qualifications & experience

I started my training working as a volunteer counsellor at the Butterwick Hospice, working with both adults and children experiencing Loss and Bereavement. This work was massively inspirational to me; helping clients discover who they and how to go on living without their loved one.

Throughout my time at the Butterwick I combined my love and passion for both Drumming and counselling to develop DRUM THERAPY as part of the service i offer, delivering Drum therapy sessions to clients, specialising in working with Emotions.

I also worked as a college counsellor, delivering mainly solution based therapies over short term contracts.

When I first qualified as a counsellor I worked as a children/young peoples counsellor for a year within a Children's charity working with; Looked after children, Young Carers, High risk families. This work gave me massive insight; helped me understand family dynamics, Mental/emotional issues, Social issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
