About me

Steven Lucas MBACP. PNCPS (Acc) accredited Psychotherapist and Counsellor.
Specializing in Anxiety, Stress, Depression, Trauma and Relationship Issues.
Online and Telephone Sessions Available.

About Me:

Hello, I’m Steven Lucas, a warm, compassionate and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist who is dedicated to helping individuals and couples navigate life’s difficulties and achieve emotional well-being.

With nineteen years' experience in the field of therapy, working for the NHS, in private practise, as a counselling lecturer and for the voluntary sector, I work with individuals and couples. My aim is to create a safe, supportive, ethical and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions freely.

I believe that improved wellbeing occurs through a better understanding of the self, and I work collaboratively with my clients to discover the root causes of their challenges. Together, we’ll explore effective strategies to help you develop new coping skills, build emotional resilience, and find inner calm.

What I Offer:

Individual Therapy: Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, or just need someone to talk to, I offer personalised one-on-one therapy sessions tailored to your unique needs.

Couples Therapy: I help couples strengthen their relationship by developing effective communication, conflict resolution, an agreed equity and rebuilding rewards. This can help to foster a healthier, happier relationship.

Online Therapy: I offer online and telephone sessions for clients who prefer the convenience of therapy from the comfort of their own home, without the need to travel and find parking.

Empathic Ethical Support: working together, we will explore your thoughts, feelings and difficulties and create a plan to help you move forward.

My Approach:

I use a variety of therapeutic techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, or Person-Centred Counselling. I believe in a holistic approach to emotional wellbeing, with a focus on the mind, body, and emotions to promote overall healing. My approach is client-centred and empathetic, aiming to provide you with the tools and support you need to thrive.

Why Work With Me?

Empathy and Understanding: I create a warm, welcoming environment where you can be your authentic self without fear of judgment.

Tailored Therapy: I tailor my approach to meet your specific goals and concerns, ensuring you receive the best possible care.

Confidentiality: I respect your privacy and ensure that all information shared is kept confidential, allowing you to speak openly and transparently.

Flexible Scheduling: I offer flexible hours, including evening and weekend sessions, to accommodate your busy schedule.

Next Steps:

If you're ready to take the first step toward a healthier, more balanced you, I’d love to hear from you. Contact me now to book an appointment so we can discuss your needs and how we can work towards them.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
