About me

I am an experienced Registered Clinical Psychologist and Accredited Cognitive Analytic Therapist with over 16 years experience working in mental health in the NHS, independent sector and private practice. I specialise in helping people with a range of both common and more complex emotional difficulties, including generalised anxiety, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, personality difficulties and relationship problems. I offer both short and longer-term therapies.

I work with primarily with clients of working age, usually individually but also as a couple (e.g. where there are relationship difficulties).

I consider the influence of early life experiences and current environmental factors in the development of emotional problems. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is key to helping an individual explore and understand themselves better, which in turn often provides insights into how they might make positive changes in their lives.

I am collaborative and down-to-earth in my style, and I think holistically in trying to help clients improve their overall health and wellbeing. I draw on a range of evidence-based psychological approaches (e.g. CBT, CAT, EMDR), but I consider myself to be an integrative, or eclectic, therapist, as I aim to 'tailor' therapy to the shared understanding of the client's needs.

As an independent psychologist and therapist, I am able to operate in a flexible and responsive way that is driven by the principles, aims and ethics of my profession.
