I am a professionally trained Psychotherapeutic Counsellor offering a comfortable and private consulting room within easy reach of Barnham village centre. I provide short term and open ended individual adult therapy for clients in Chichester, Arundel, Bognor Regis and surrounding areas.
While I employ a Psychodynamic approach to my work, I'm always mindful that the main influence on whether you'll be able to move towards a positive outcome is likely to be more down to the relationship between us irrespective of any particular approach. So I'll always ensure you're well listened to, understood and supported throughout your therapy.
Psychodynamic working assumes that feelings and behaviour in adults are influenced considerably by unconscious motives arising from earlier experiences, mostly childhood. The aim of Psychodynamic therapy is to identify any unconscious processes that may be working against your best interests and carefully bring these to your awareness at a rate at which they can be safely understood and validated. So, an opportunity emerges for you to spotlight things you may wish to change - or at least accept - as a basis for your future well-being.

My professional fee is £50 per session. Sessions cancelled by you will not be chargeable providing you have given at least 24 hours notice. I will provide you with a monthly invoice that you will be welcome to pay by cash, cheque or bank transfer. Please note that I reserve the right to review fees on an annual basis.
What will happen?
Usually we will meet at the same time every week and each session will last for 50 minutes. We will meet in my consulting room where we will sit in comfortable armchairs facing each other (there is no requirement for you to lay on a couch). The room is within easy reach of Barnham village centre and there is ample free parking onsite plus toilet facilities. The work will only progress at your pace and you will be free to talk about whatever you wish during each session. You may end your therapy at any time. There is no right or wrong length of therapy but we will both review our time together at regular intervals. I will always endeavour to let you know well in advance if I am going to be unavailable for any future session.
Will it be confidential?
Yes. I will treat all information you disclose as confidential. I will not pass any of your details onto anyone else without your permission. However, if in my opinion you present a serious risk either to yourself or others then I reserve the right to inform appropriate agencies. Furthermore, I can offer confidentiality only within the scope of the law. It is my practice wherever possible to inform you beforehand should there ever be a reason for me to breach confidentiality.
