About me

My Counselling Practice & The Impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19)

During this unprecedented and unpredictable time, I am continuing to offer a complete, secure and safe counselling provision online to clients. Please feel free to contact me for further information, to explore how I might be able to best support you and what an online experience might feel like. Just call or contact me via my website (see below) and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

I am a BACP accredited, fully insured counsellor and clinical supervisor, with over 15 years experience of working with clients both in an organisational setting and in private practice. During this time, I have offered emotional help, support and guidance to many clients, who have come to me with a wide range of presenting issues, including:

          Stress & Anxiety
          Life Crisis
          Relationship Issues
          Sexuality, Sexual Issues & Gender
          Sexual Health/HIV
The search for Meaning & Purpose in Life
          Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse

You can find out more about the way I work and my specialist areas by visiting www.stevebarlowcounselling.co.uk

I also offer clinical supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists, having successfully gained a PGCE in Transpersonal & Integrative Supervision from The Psychosynthesis Trust in 2011.

I receive regular clinical supervision which ensures that I continue to work appropriately, safely and ethically in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework and work in compliance with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) guidelines 2018.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
