About me

Hi, my name is Stella Halse, and I am an Integrative Counsellor based in South Wales.

After many decades working in healthcare as a nurse, I qualified as an Integrative counsellor from the University of South Wales in 2020. I am also a registered member of the BACP.

I work with individuals with a variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and survivors of abuse. I also have experience and knowledge of working with neurodivergent clients and clients from the LGBTQ+ communities.

What I offer

Practising as an Integrative counsellor, means that I have a strong toolbox of approaches and interventions from different schools of therapy including Humanistic, Psychodynamic and Existential, that I can draw on. This offers me the flexibility to focus on each person with their own unique experiences.

I know from my own experiences as a client, taking that first step into counselling can be daunting, my hope is that I can bring a sense of ease as we work together.

The sessions allow you a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space to explore what is important to you, this is your time. I frequently use my knowledge to provide psychoeducation, but ultimately I am led by you, in the hope that understanding will lead to acceptance, then coping, followed by empowerment and eventual change.

For me, the relationship I build with clients is the most important aspect of the therapy, as is a kind and caring approach. From this, trust and honesty develop and the promise of a safe pair of hands to explore what has brought you to counselling. It may be that you feel stuck, lost or find yourself wondering. ‘Why is this happening to me?’ You may feel the need for ‘something ‘to change, it may be that you do not know what that ‘something’ is yet.

No matter how large or small the problem might seem, or how stuck you may feel, I guarantee a kind and caring, approach as we explore what you need and if we might be able to work well together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
