About us

Hello, and Welcome to Spread Your Wings Therapy/Counselling Directory

My name is Lynda, and I am the founder and owner of Spread Your Wings Therapy. I am passionate about helping people on their journey to healing and personal growth. I work with each person in a way that feels comfortable for them, using a person-centred approach. This means that I focus on you as an individual, offering a space where you can feel safe, heard, and understood.

Person-Centred Therapy, developed by Carl Rogers, is about creating a calm and welcoming environment where you can talk openly about what’s on your mind. In this space, you are treated with kindness and respect, and you can explore your feelings, thoughts, and experiences. This type of therapy helps people understand themselves better, build confidence, and make positive changes in their lives.

Like many people, I have faced personal struggles. I’ve also had therapy in the past, which helped me feel heard and validated. This experience gave me the strength I needed to grow and inspired me to become a counsellor. I wanted to help others feel the same sense of relief and understanding I did. I believe that each person is important, and I am here to support you as you work through your own journey.

After studying and training for five years, I became a qualified counsellor in 2024. During this time, I learned a lot about how to support people who have gone through tough times. I’ve worked with clients who have experienced things like trauma, abuse, communication problems, and issues with how they see themselves.

For example, someone who has experienced trauma might be struggling after a difficult event, like a car accident. This can cause feelings of fear or anxiety. A person who has been abused, whether physically or emotionally, may need help to feel safe again and rebuild trust in others. Clients who struggle with communication often find it hard to express their feelings, which can lead to misunderstandings or problems in relationships.

The concept of self is about how we see ourselves. It includes our self-esteem, our identity, and how we think about our abilities. Sometimes, people feel lost or confused about who they are or their place in the world. This can affect their confidence and happiness. In therapy, we can work together to help you understand yourself better and feel stronger and more sure of who you are.

Life has its good and bad times, but with the right support and understanding of yourself, you can face challenges with confidence. I look forward to helping you on your journey toward better self-understanding, strength, and growth. I know that everyone is different, and I take the time to understand your unique needs. Each session is made just for you, so you can get the support you need to unlock your full potential. My goal is to help you find hope, confidence, and strength as you move forward in life.

Training, qualifications & experience

 My Training and Qualifications
After completing my counselling training, I also passed a proficiency exam to become a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). Being a member means I follow strict ethical and professional standards to ensure I provide the best support for my clients. I also attend regular supervision to make sure I am offering the right support to my clients in an ethical and caring way. A supervisor helps me check that my work meets the highest standards and allows me to keep growing and improving as a counsellor.

My Experience and Clients
I have worked with a wide range of clients, from ages 15 to 70. I have experience helping people from many different backgrounds with different challenges. Whether you are a teenager dealing with school stress, a young adult facing relationship issues, or someone later in life going through a difficult time, I have the skills and experience to help you. No matter what age, I believe everyone can benefit from counselling to better understand themselves and find peace of mind.

My Future Plans
In September 2025, I will begin training as a children’s counsellor. This will allow me to work with young children who may need help with their feelings or problems. I plan to use this training to also become a school counsellor in the future. Alongside my private practice, I hope to help more young people in schools get the support they need.

I am committed to growing in my work and continuing to learn so I can help even more people, both in my private practice and in schools.

How I Can Help You
If you are facing difficult times or just want someone to talk to, I am here to help. My counselling approach focuses on your unique needs, helping you build confidence, understand yourself better, and make positive changes in your life. I believe that with the right support, anyone can heal and grow stronger.

Member organisations *

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
