About me

Anxious, unhappy or feeling low? I offer counselling to adults, young people and teenagers and have many years' experience in a wide range of issues.

I also offer counselling to couples and to families.

Some of these issues include: anxiety, depression, feeling low and unmotivated, lack of self-confidence, stress, loss, bereavement, relationship and family issues, problems at work, addiction, bullying and OCD: sometimes just not knowing what to do next, who to turn to, that life is becoming unbearable ....

Introductory first sessions are free so that you can talk in confidence about what's on your mind and then decide whether or not to proceed.

How Counselling Can Help
_______________________

Counselling offers an opportunity to think and to talk about yourself and your concerns in a way that you often can't do with family and friends. It provides a safe and confidential place to talk about your life and anything that may be confusing, painful or uncomfortable. Counselling allows you to talk with someone who is trained to listen attentively and who can then support you in finding possible solutions to problems you wish to explore.

Sometimes, just by understanding how and why you think and feel in the way you do, you will be able to sort out dilemmas, predicaments and emotional concerns, and move on.

I am a fully qualified BACP Humanistic/Integrative counsellor.

Training, qualifications & experience

As well as my private practice, I have helped young people in secondary school with a range of issues including bullying, family complications, self-harm and OCD. I also support clients (including couples) with alcohol and drug addiction issues and belong to the Sussex Drug and Alcohol Counselling Service www.sussexalcoholcounselling.co.uk

I trained at Wealden Psychology Institute where I gained a Diploma in Integrative Counselling. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I have additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

I have a Post Qualifying Diploma in Counselling Children and Adolescents.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
