About me

Hello I'm Sophie. I'm a fully qualified Integrative Therapist, with a First-class BA Honours Degree from Coventry University. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and complete regular BACP approved CPD's, to ensure my practice is current and progressive. Being an Integrative therapist, simply means that I am qualified in a variety of counselling theories, which enables me to skilfully tailor my approach, to best support the client's individual circumstances and goals for therapy.

My practice is kind, accepting and absent of judgement; providing a safe & confidential space, for people to navigate their thoughts and feelings.

I appreciate how difficult it can be, to take the first step; to reach out for support. Please be reassured that your counselling journey will be paced by you, covering what you feel comfortable and ready to work through.

I believe that a large part of therapy being successful, is establishing a strong therapeutic alliance. Working with a counsellor, whose personality dynamic and communication style, you feel comfortable with and works in a way that is right for you. With this in mind, whether you work with myself or elsewhere, know that you don't have to cope alone!

Training, qualifications & experience

  • First-Class BA Honours Degree, in Integrative Counselling Theory & Practice
  • Hypnotherapy - Guided Imagery Visualisation Qualification - Human Givens College
  • Breathwork Regulation Trained for Sport and Performance.
  • Level 2 CPCAB - Counselling Skills
  • Distinction in Psychodynamic Therapy

I have over 4-years’ experience supporting mental wellbeing. I have worked with a variety of mental health needs, across different settings. Some of which include; specialist primary & secondary education provisions (supporting families as well as pupils with neurodiversity & attachment), hospices, private athlete support during injury, refuge centres, health clinics, charity organisations, online and telephone counselling. I have worked with difficulties including (but not limited to) anxiety, depression, ADHD, ASD, attachment, anger (/emotional) regulation, bereavement & loss, low self-esteem, career pressure & stress management, relationship difficulties, abuse, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), panic attacks and loneliness.

My experience in my early therapeutic career, working with such a diverse client base, has shown me that there is not a 'one size fits all' approach to counselling; that I found translated across all areas of need. I believe everyone's life experiences are different and unique to them and their counselling experience should encompass this.

Which led me to build my own private counselling practice; where I work with the client, considerate of their past and present, supporting them to process & accept their life story to date, increasing self-awareness and clarifying their wants and needs moving forward.

If you are interested in booking an appointment, I offer a free telephone session, which you can request via email. Please provide your name, contact number, email address and preferred method of contact and I will be in contact ASAP.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
