About me

I believe that every human being possesses their own  innate potential for self-acceptance, growth and change. Even if it doesn’t feel like it by searching for a counsellor, you have taken the first step to contacting this potential within yourself.

I understand that to be truly listened to, heard, valued and respected with sensitivity and care by another can be a rare experience in this world, and this is central to my work. I work in a gentle, and relational way. I believe that counselling is about forming an authentic, two-way process of being real with one another. The counselling relationship is a confidential, non-judgmental and nurturing holding space in which I will help and encourage you to find clarity and understanding within yourself and your life. Unconditional acceptance is a key part of my counselling approach, I believe that when you are wholly accepted by somebody, it becomes easier to accept yourself, and often with self-acceptance can come the growth and changes you so wish for.

I am an Integrative Counsellor, this means that I experience you, the client,  in terms of your whole being. Everybody is different, and this is why I believe that no single therapy can suit everybody.

As I begin to develop an understanding of you and your world, and as we explore how you feel (in mind and body), your experience (past and present), your relationships, thoughts and behaviours, I will bring in counselling approaches and techniques that I feel resonate with you.

I appreciate that finding the right counsellor can seem daunting, I will always offer you a free consultation session so that you can gain a sense of whether I’m the right counsellor for you.

I am a Member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists, this means I work in line with their ethical requirements and attend regular supervision sessions to ensure I am working ethically and to the best of my ability.
