About me
Hello! My name is Sophie, I’m qualified counsellor and psychotherapist.
Understanding ourselves is a lifelong journey and life inevitably presents challenges along the way. By taking the time out of our busy schedules to reflect on our thoughts, feelings, and emotions, we can begin to understand the underlying motivations and triggers that shape our lives. Therapy can provide space to explore and untangle these aspects of yourself, building on self-awareness and helping you to recognise patterns in your responses, leading to greater clarity and understanding of your personal experiences.
How can therapy help?
- Gain a richer insight into who you are by exploring your thoughts, feelings, and emotions
- Find healthier ways to cope with stress, find clarity over your thoughts and strengthen your inner resilience
- Improve your personal boundaries
- Navigate conflicts, improve communication and build healthier relationships
- Redefine your independence and self-assurance
About Me and My Therapy Practice
I'm an integrative relational counsellor. In human terms, I essentially work in a collaborative and supportive way to enable you to work through the issues that led you to seek therapy. Throughout this process, you are likely to gain a deeper insight into yourself, which can strengthen resilience and form a more defined sense of self. I specialise in combining various therapeutic approaches to address your specific needs.
I’m also a musician and take a special interest in working with musicians and people in music and creative industries. You’ll never have to explain the unique pressures of being in this industry to me, I will understand and relate to your circumstances personally because I’ve navigated similar experiences myself.
I offer short and long-term therapy through 50-minute weekly sessions, currently online via zoom.
What To Expect
I offer a free 15 minute initial phone call with no commitment which will allow both of us to discuss the potential of working together.
During this time I can answer any questions you may have about the counselling process and about my approach to therapy. I will ask for a brief description of what you would like to work on in therapy and some background information in order for me to understand if my skills and experience will meet your needs.
If we both decide to continue, sessions are offered weekly, on the same day and at the same time for the duration of therapy.
What to expect in your first session
It is common to feel anxious or nervous about attending your first session, and I will make every effort to establish a setting where you feel safe, welcomed, and acknowledged.
The first session is a little different to the ongoing sessions as I will ask you some questions to better understand your needs and how I can best support you, you’ll also be able to tell me your story at a pace that is comfortable for you.
Prices:
15 minute initial phone consultation - Free
50 minute online/video therapy session: £60

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
