Sophie Fernandez Relationship therapist specialising in Psychosexual Therapy
I am a relationship therapist specialising in psychosexual therapy. My therapeutic approach is underpinned by an integrative model as well as working psychodynamically.
I offer psychosexual and relationship therapy (relationship difficulties and/or sexual problems) for individuals and couples. I am completing a COSRT (College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists) approved Postgraduate Diploma Course and I am a COSRT General Member, abiding by the COSRT Code of Ethics and Practice. I am currently providing support at an NHS sexual Clinic and I am supervised by a very skilled COSRT Accredited Psychosexual & Relationship Therapist.
I welcome clients with relationship and communication difficulties, sexual difficulties and conditions which support impaired sexual function: vaginismus, dyspareunia, orgasmic disorder, sexual phobia, sexual orientation confusion, sexual addiction, depression, STI's, alcohol and recreational drug use in excess.
Sessions are private and confidential and are 50 minutes long usually every two weeks. Please feel free to phone me or text and make an appointment on 07914478507.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have 10+ years experience working with young people and adults, currently specialising in psychosexual and relationship therapy, completing an approved COSRT course (College of Sexual and Relationship Therapy).
Starting a therapy takes commitment, trust and emotional risk-taking, which may feel overwhelming and uneasy. By making that first step towards change you are investing in yourself, ready to look at yourself, exploring what you want to change. It takes courage. Together you can move forward at your own pace.
I am working with adult patients at an NHS Sexual Clinic (University Hospital) with psychosexual and relationship difficulties. My therapeutic approach is underpinned by an integrative model as well as working psychodynamically. I have had very positive feedback from patients with various sexual presentations including vaginismus, premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction and I am currently accepting new self-referrals (individuals, couples).
I am a COSRT General Member who abides by the COSRT Code of Ethics and Practice.
I am also a practicing clinical supervisor, completing the Terapia Diploma in Child, Adolescent and Adult Adolescent Psychotherapy and Counselling Supervision in 2017. Other studies include: The Infant Mental Health Course from Warwick Medical School at the University of Warwick in 2016 and The Foundation course in Family Systemic Therapy at Prudence Skynner Family & Couple Therapy Clinic at Springfield Hospital in Tooting, South West London, in 2014.
I initially completed the MA in Art Therapy at Roehampton University in 2012.
