About me

I offer psychodynamic therapy to individual, couples and young people. I offer private and confidential sessions in my own quiet and calming consulting room in Writtle, Chelmsford.

I have completed a Certificate in Post-Cult Counselling. I work with individuals who have experienced cults, high demand groups or a coercive relationship. I also have experience of psychosexual issues, trauma and loss.

I have been working as a Psychodynamic Therapist for over fourteen years.

I fully understand how daunting, frightening or confusing seeking therapy can be. If you are thinking about starting therapy, please contact me so we can talk about how you are feeling. Talking about how this might feel and gaining more understanding about how the process works can be really helpful.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Thinking about or seeking therapy or counselling can feel very daunting. You may know why you are seeking counselling or you might need help understanding how you are currently feeling. You might simply feel the need to talk to someone you are not in a relationship with.

Therefore, you may choose to start counselling for all sorts of reasons. It might be because you have experienced a loss, a bereavement, a change in your family circumstances or a relationship of some sort. You may be suffering from an illness or a health problem or a change in your physical abilities. Perhaps you are struggling with your job or employment or have financial difficulties. You might feel you have lost touch with yourself or feel uncertain about a life decision. Or you may be confused by your feelings, feeling unhappy, depressed, anxious, worried or sad. You may be concerned about your body, weight, appearance, sexuality, your eating, your drinking, smoking or drug use. Perhaps you have experienced a traumatic event or been in an abusive relationship. You might be doing things to yourself and want to stop or do not understand why you do them.

I will seek, through the therapy to help you make sense of your emotions and feelings which you might not fully understand. I can help you to find the answers to your questions, anxieties and concerns. Therapy can help us to put words to our feelings and feelings to our words.
