About me

Hello, I’m Sophia. I offer counselling & psychotherapy and I would like to help you to feel better- whatever that means to you.

Perhaps you want to relieve depression or anxiety? To heal from trauma? To work through difficulties in relationships or at work? Or maybe you just want to feel more vitality, more connected to yourself and to live life more fully.

I’m an experienced therapist and I am passionate about providing professional & effective therapy. I offer a nonjudgmental and safe space where you can be yourself as we explore what is causing you suffering or holding you back.

My training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and other therapy approaches, allows me to tailor each session to best support your unique needs. I am warm and compassionate, but I won’t just sit back and listen. I'll be actively engaged with you; working hard to help you to access your inner resources and restore your well being.

Brain science shows us that the capacity to heal and grow is wired into us, waiting to be tapped into and that sharing our difficult thoughts & feelings with an experienced therapist we trust, can bring about lasting change. -What great news-

Presently my practice is entirely online using Zoom video conferencing software. If you're concerned that video sessions won't feel right to you, then I would suggest trying a free 20 minute video consultation to see how it feels.
My clients have found it to be as effective as face to face sessions- Though of course I can't wait to be seeing clients face to face again-

I welcome emails with any questions you may have or you can book a free 20 minute phone or video consultation.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy: AEDP Institute
  • Therapeutic Counselling - Mindfulness Based Experiential Therapy: MBET Centre
  • Mindfulness skills Certificate: MBET Centre

Psychotherapy is an ever evolving field and it is essential for therapists to stay up to date with regular training. I have a particular interest in what brain science & attachment science teaches us about what actually brings about lasting change for clients. I attend professional training regularly.

My work is informed by a number of therapy therapy modalities including: Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.

I work with adults in private practice across the UK and as part of an NHS commissioned service in London & South East. I have experience of helping clients with a broad range of mental health issues.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
