About me

Generally Counselling helps you to improve your sense of wellbeing, alleviate distress, resolve crises, increases your ability to solve problems, opens up different perspectives and also empowers you to make your own decisions and begin to bring together the pieces of your life.

Mindfulness, Counselling and Psychotherapy helps those struggling with everyday issues and in need of additional support to manage and work through challenging events in their life. It can also identify negative patterns of relating or behaviour so that you can make more informed choices and develop more positive strategies and patterns going forward. Psychotherapy may be more helpful for psychological problems that have built up over the years that may need further exploration

My role is to help you make sense of what is happening and not just label your experience. I believe the key to success is through the relationship of therapist and client and I work towards a carefully boundaried relationship where you can feel safe, tell your story and really be listened to. I offer empathy and space where you can feel valued and talk in comfortable surroundings.

I am an Accredited Member of the BACP, and support an Integrative approach of Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis and Mindfulness. I am also an experienced Addictions and Trauma specialist offering counselling to those with PTSD or Complex PTSD.

I am also body psychotherapy informed and integrate any Trauma work with the body as research confirms that trauma is stored in the body both physically and psychologically.  To help support this framework I am also Internal Family Systems informed.

This integrative approach allows me to address the whole person — mind, body, and spirit — ensuring a deeply personalised therapeutic experience. By tailoring my methods to each individual, I help uncover the root causes of inner struggles and transform them into powerful sources of strength and resilience.

At the heart of my work is a commitment to creating a safe, compassionate environment where clients feel truly seen and heard

I teach the eight week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction either in group or on a one to one basis.  We all love the convenience of apps. But they often leave out the most important part of mindfulness — the human connection.

Human connection feeds not only our emotional well-being but also our personal and professional growth. It's through human interactions that we develop self-awareness, empathy, resilience, and the ability to truly listen to others, but most importantly ourselves.  Are you ready to listen to your deepest wants and needs so that you can move towards what Mary Oliver calls 'our one wild and precious life?'

My counselling and supervision practice is BAME & LGBTQ affirmative.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
