Sonia Malik Psychological Therapist BABCP (Accredited) Bsc (Hons). PGDip. CBT
I am a fully accredited Psychological Therapist and have 10 years’ experience of working in the NHS and private sector. I also work as a clinical supervisor, offering supervision to trainee and qualified therapists. You may be looking for support because you are feeling anxious, stressed, worried, low in mood, or you are simply feeling stuck and unfulfilled in life. Alternatively, you may want to address a specific issue such as low self-esteem, shame, intrusive thoughts, images and compulsive behaviours (known as OCD), panic attacks, social anxiety, or a phobia that you would like to overcome.
The approach that I use is based upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) interwoven with Mindfulness and Compassion Focused Therapy. This approach is aimed to help you to understand your difficulties and will guide you towards thinking and behaving in a way that leads you to feel more at ease with yourself and able to live a happy and more enjoyable life.
Seeking help can feel daunting, therefore we will work at a pace that enables you to feel comfortable, safe and supported. I typically offer an average of 6 sessions to begin with, and we can spend as much or as little time from there as you need. We can begin by arranging an initial session and if you are happy with the approach that I offer we will go from there. I have a very warm and flexible nature and am able to offer both short-term and long-term therapy.
