Hello my name is Sonia Herbert, I am a registered Psychotherapist, Counsellor and Counselling Trainer and supervisor.
I am a skilled and experienced therapist with over 11 years experience in practicing therapy and training of trainee Counsellors to undergraduate level. I have worked in NHS settings; hospital and a GP practice, within a children’s nursery, in bereavement, education and colleges.
I am an integrative psychotherapist; this means that I integrate elements from different schools of psychotherapy in order to respond effectively and appropriately to the person as a whole. I believe theoretically there is no one truth, different people need different approaches and interventions at differing times. I have a hopeful view of human beings and believe that we are influenced by external forces as well as our unconscious. I work either short term or open ended A counselling session is 50 minutes and we will usually meet weekly.
When we first meet we will look at confidentiality, practical issues and any questions you may have.
I also have a Diploma in Counselling Supervision.
As a trainer of counsellors I have a good insight into what the expectations are from the college/university, and from yourself, with regards to personal therapy and supervision which are required. Please visit my website to find out more... www.soniaherberttherapy.co.uk

We all go through situations which are stressful; from exam stress to the worry of redundancy. i have years of experience in a college helping young people with these concerns and other usual developmental stages. The transition from school to college and then university has pressures and worries that can be worked through.
We are in relationships with others from the day we are born. Relationships can be a source of happiness and security or can be unhealthy and painful. If you find yourself in an unhealthy relationship it can impact on other areas of your life. It is helpful to talk through any problems your relationship(s) maybe having whether that is with your parents, friends, partners etc..
