HCPC Registered Counselling Psychologist

About me

Dr Soha Daru is a highly experienced Counsellor and Psychologist with over 15 years’ work experience counselling online and face-to-face in mental health centres and the NHS. Soha is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and works as a Psychologist in a clinical health setting at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. Additionally, she works as a Lecturer in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Leeds.

Soha believes in working alongside people to help them achieve their full potential as the answers are already within us. She offers a collaborative approach and recognizes that we are all unique in our experiences, cultural backgrounds and upbringing. We might be influenced by past experiences but we have a choice in how we respond to the present and the challenges life might bring. Her approach is tailor-made to suit individuals' current needs; she aims to empower people and support them with where they want to get to at the end of therapy.

Soha is described by her clients as a warm, empathic and highly effective therapist. She works with adults aged 20 years and over and offers both short-term and longer term counselling based on the need. She currently offers online and telephone counselling.

Soha offers counselling for a variety of presenting issues and has specialist experience working with low mood, stress, depression, anxiety, work-related problems, grief, abuse and relationship issues. She is trained in delivering various approaches to therapy including Cognitive Behaviour therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness. She also offers life coaching for various issues and has a unique approach where she combines her training and experience in counselling and psychotherapy and offers this alongside a coaching model for those who are interested in this pathway.

The first step to reaching out and accessing therapy can be confusing and difficult. Please feel free to make an appointment regarding your needs and what you are looking for.
