Whether it is a personal or relationship issue, feelings of despair, a sense hopelessness or low in motivation, at one point or another people from all walks of life experience distress. When life events such as bereavement, divorce, redundancy or health related issues start to feel like a struggle, they have an impact on your emotional, psychological and mental wellbeing.
SO HOW CAN COUNSELLING HELP?
Counselling can help you gain clarity and make sense of your thoughts and feelings. As a professional Counsellor I will emphatically support your journey towards gaining inner peace. I believe each person’s life journey is valuable and by offering you a safe and therapeutic space to talk and reflect, I facilitate your counselling process by listening and empowering your inner ability to heal from within.
HOW LONG ARE THE SESSIONS AND HOW MANY NEEDED?
Sessions last for 50-60 minutes and the number required will depend upon individual needs. I believe it is important you get to know what the process entails before booking any sessions with me. BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

My academic research was based on cultural and religious barriers to accessing mental health services within ethnic minorities. This enabled me to gain insight to the specific needs of these communities, therefore I am able to work with a culturally and religiously sensitive approach. I have also facilitated several groups, working with South Asian Women, raising awareness, challenging stigma and cultural misconceptions towards mental health issues.
A initial consultation 30 mins (free) to discuss your needs is offered prior to starting your sessions. This is carried out over the phone.

I offer to work on both short term (between 4-6 sessions) and on long term sessions, based on your individual needs.
