Sky Mitchell: Reg. MBACP Counsellor
I would like to personally welcome you to my profile and tell you a little bit about how I work and how we can work together.
My core beliefs are to work with warmth, confidentiality and with no judgement or opinions. I am passionate about helping you to recognise and understand your feelings and the way you relate to and build relationships on both a personal and professional level. I want to listen to your thoughts, feelings, problems and concerns and I provide a safe space for you to talk. Together we will work towards discovering a deeper understanding of who you are and why you act and react the way you do to people and in certain situations. This understanding can lead to a fuller and happier life with a deeper sense of meaning and purpose.
I am a qualified Counsellor and have a Private Practice in Borehamwood. Through working in my Practice I have had and continue to have the privilege of using my passion to help and guide my clients to achieve a better quality of emotional life. Because of this, I have extensive experience in working with anxiety, stress, depression, loss, trust issues, sexual issues, trauma, childhood sexual abuse, eating disorders and addiction.
I believe that my ongoing personal growth and professional knowledge is paramount to our work together and to achieve this I attend regular Continual Professional Development workshops and have weekly therapy.
I would like to tell you about the process of starting Counselling with me. Firstly, we will arrange a time and day for you to come to my Practice for an Assessment. For clients further afield, this session and further sessions are over Skype. This initial meeting lasts for 90 minutes, when I will ask you for some background information about yourself, what led you to see me and what your expectations of our work together might be. The fee for this is £50. If you feel that you would like to enter into regular sessions, then we arrange a time and day which is dedicated to you and our work together. Our 50 minute sessions are weekly. I work open-endedly which means that there is no time limit to how long we will work together.

Life can be challenging and past experiences can affect your ability to make decisions and function on a day to day basis. At times, relationships can seem difficult to sustain and the overall quality of your life can feel hard to achieve.
If you are concerned about how you are feeling or have been responding to people and situations, it is often helpful to talk to someone apart from your partner, family or friends.
I offer a confidential, safe space for us to work together; a place for you to be listened to not just heard.
As well as working face to face in my Practice in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, I also work over Skype, with clients that have moved abroad or relocated to a different part of the country. Moving away and into the unknown can evoke many feelings such as anxiety and loneliness as change can seem difficult and affect your emotional well being. I can help you to understand and process those feelings and settle in to your new environment.
