My name is Siobhan, and I am a fully qualified person-centred psychotherapist based in Oswestry, Shropshire. I offer one-to-one counselling sessions as well as emotional wellbeing workshops and short courses for schools, colleges, and community support services.
Training, qualifications & experience
Counselling and Psychotherapy (Professional Practice) BSc through the University of Salford (First Class honours).
I have 18 years experience helping people from many walks of life with a wide variety of support needs. My experience ranges from play-based therapy with children experiencing domestic abuse, to supporting adults struggling to cope with the distressing effects of childhood trauma, and helping young people overcome severe anxiety.
I have provided adult counselling services through the NHS, at a Salford-based counselling centre, and worked as a school-based counsellor in primary education.
Further to my therapeutic work, I have held positions as a Pastoral Learning Mentor, Shropshire Council Family Support Worker, and have facilitated various parent support groups in the community.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

I offer a free 30-minute consultation where we can discuss any specific issues you want to address and what you would like to gain from therapy. This also gives you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. However, you are under no obligation to continue with therapy at this point - it needs to feel right for you.
I believe that you deserve to be listened to, respected, and accepted for the unique individual that you are. I have faith in your strength and personal resources to overcome your difficulties. Over time, and with my support, you can discover your own abilities, confidence, and sense of independence, so that you can cope with current and future problems.
I believe that you are the expert on yourself and I will always treat you this way - after all, no-one else knows exactly what it’s like to be you. I will not judge you no matter what you bring to our sessions. This can help us to build a trustworthy relationship in which you can feel free and supported to disclose whatever is troubling you
Although I am primarily a person-centred counsellor, I may adapt the way we work together to best meet your needs when I feel it would benefit you. This may include taking more of a solution-focused approach, suggesting mindfulness techniques, or introducing some creative work to help you express how you are feeling when it may be hard to put things into words.
