Siobhan O'Toole. Senior BACP Accred - Relationship Counsellor
I am a senior BACP psychotherapist and counsellor with over twenty five years experience, offering couple counselling for couples and individuals who are having difficulties in their relationship.
These may be feelings of anger and resentment towards each other, a lack of communication, feelings of separateness or a general unhappiness within the relationship.
Couples can go through many difficult stages in their relationship, from the birth of the first child, to the challenges of being parents to adolescents. Affairs, redundancy, career changes, ageing and many other life stages can activate problems.
In counselling with me, couples gain more insight into the way they function as a couple. This growing awareness and discovery together, helps couples understand how these problems have developed between them.
I offer a safe and confidential setting for couples and individuals who are having difficulties in their relationships and want to explore and understand what is happening between them.
With me they feel safe to talk about things that have felt impossible and the growing awareness and possibilities that become realised through the work lead to feelings of relief and the possibility of change.
Separation and Divorce.
I work with both women and men that find that they are no longer able to remain in their relationship and need support to make the transition from a marriage to being single again. This is a very distressing and difficult stage in a persons life and I have worked and supported many people to manage this transition. Many people feel the work they do in therapy with me gives them the confidence to listen to their inner feelings and be truthful to themselves. To begin to embrace a different way of living and move forward in their lives with courage and strength.
I also see individuals who are looking for a therapist to help them explore and understand themselves better. People turn to therapy when they are unable to identify why they are unhappy and feel that they are having problems in their relationships at work or within the family.
I have worked with many people who have found that therapy has helped them to discover who they truly are and to be able to express this in their lives and relationships. Psychotherapy for many of my patients has been an invaluable experience where they have felt more whole and able to experience life more fully.
Counselling for individuals from £80 and for couples from £100. Some concessions are available.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
