About me

I have been working in the area of Psychotherapy & Counselling for over 12 years, and I am working both face to face and online with all clients at present depending on your preference.

I provide a safe, down to earth, non-judgmental and confidential space to help clients gain more clarity, explore different perspectives and find a way forward.

"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.-Anaïs Nin"

I work with individuals who struggle with Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Trauma, PTSD, Depression, Abuse, Addictions, Relational Difficulties, Fertility Issues, Mood Fluctuations, High self-criticism and/ or Low self-esteem.

One of my specialties is in helping people deal with their anxiety, trauma PTSD depression or stress, using a solution focused way to release the anxiety.

I have a genuine affection and interest in people and I am told by clients that I am able to offer a deeply authentic relational way of working. I believe it is this relationship that plays a big part in the healing process.

My experience has taught me that whilst theory is important, counselling & therapy works by accepting and validating clients for who they are and trusting that they have within them the ability to change and grow.

Sometimes we just need support in life's challenges

Whether its brief counselling or longer term psychotherapy in a safe and nurturing environment, you can be supported in life transitions, unexpected challenges or you may just want to get to know yourself better.

“Building a relationship of trust, honesty, and safety is at the centre of what I do. I am inspired to help my clients empower themselves in the healing process so they can fulfil their true potential"

Whilst my core training is in Humanistic & Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy, I have a deep respect and understanding for other modalities, and have gained qualifications in several different areas. This helps me to provide clients with a better experience of counselling. I believe by drawing on different modalities I can tailor make an approach to suit your uniqueness as an individual.

I welcome you to contact me by phone or email for an appointment, or visit my website for more information on the therapy I offer.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

IFS (Internal Family Systems or "Parts" work)

IFS is a gentle, respectful yet transformative modality. Parts work is different from many modalities because of it’s philosophy that it is of key importance that we approach all of our parts with compassion and curiosity, even (especially) the parts we most dislike in ourselves. We attempt to understand why the part believes that it’s behaviour is protecting us from danger or harm.

Liberating parts from their mistaken beliefs is one of our main goals in this modality. Parts are often 'stuck in time' so to speak — so we work towards letting each 'part' know that they no longer have to do the 'job' of protecting us that they feel they were hired on to do (usually at a time of wounding in early childhood).

The other main component of the work is letting all the parts know that we have a Self, this true Self is not a part — and that this Self is capable of leading the system, of knowing what to do, what choices to make, how to act in the world, in relationship, and so on.

TRE® Provider ( Stress, Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises)

TRE® is a body based way to shake of stress and anxiety. Dr. David Berceli’s Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises, TRE®, are an amazing tool for helping the body let go of deep, chronic patterns.

The exercises are remarkably simple and the process of change they facilitate is very easy to self regulate. The goal of the exercises is to start a self directed tremoring process. The tremors are deeply natural and release tension and trauma held in the body.

QEC Practitioner & Supervisor (Release self limiting beliefs)

(QEC) involves the client and practitioner working together to choose new thought patterns and behaviours to replace negative limiting ones.

These are then installed in the subconscious mind using a specific body position. The client is fully conscious at all times and the process is quick, easy and effortless. Once installed, the new beliefs are permanent and the change is profound.
