About me

Hi, I am Siobhan and I am an experienced counsellor and over the past 15 years, been providing a safe, open and supportive environment for individuals and young adults to work with and understand their concerns. I have experience in working with clients to overcome anxiety, low self-esteem, bereavement, stress and depression, to name a few.  I offer both long and short term counselling.

How I work

I feel we all have an inbuilt capacity to grow and achieve our full potential just sometimes life is so busy we don't give ourselves time. Different individuals and concerns need different sorts of help; it's about getting it into perspective and problem-solving. I am able to combine CBT and psychodynamic theories to create a unique way of working for each client.

I am passionate about providing a greater sense of self-understanding and well-being and work towards enabling you to live in a more satisfying and resourceful way. Working with me is a collaborative process where we regularly review where you are at and what we need to move forward. You can find out more about me and my way of working on my website here.

I'm offering both online sessions via zoom, telephone and face to face, which meets the appropriate legal requirements for protecting my clients, health and personal information.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

About me

My journey into counselling began in 2001. I was working for a charity called NABS my role was to support graduates/postgraduates getting into or changing direction within the communications industry. Our initial consultations would invariably bring up concerns about confidence and presentation skills but underlying was a lot of emotion, fear and anxiety. I felt in order for me to give my clients the best service I needed to build on my listening and empathic skills.

Counselling was the solution and over the next 4 years, I worked for MIND and Camden, City, Westminster and Islington Bereavement service where I gained a great deal of experience across all spectrum of mental health concerns as well as intense training in bereavement counselling. I qualified and gained my advanced diploma in therapeutic counselling in 2005.

I also set up in house counselling service at NABS this gave me the encouragement to go a set up my private practice which has now been up and running for the last 2 years. Together with my private practise, I facilitate with another colleague a peer group called "Hertfordshire Therapist Group" which meets on a monthly basis. In addition, I also work as a counsellor one day a week at a primary school in Harlow which I find extremely rewarding.
