About me

I am a qualified Humanistic Integrative Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I specialise in working with complex trauma, PTSD and survivors of childhood abuse and sexual abuse. I am also experienced in working with: panic attacks, generalised anxiety, depression, work stress, relationship issues, conflict management, low self-esteem, intrusive thoughts, OCD and grief and loss.

I believe counselling is a journey and it is also a big investment of time and money in yourself. I aim for a warm and welcoming atmosphere as I believe it is important to feel safe and comfortable in the room with your therapist. I believe that it is only when you are comfortable can you 'go there' with your material.

The therapy hour last 50 minutes. This is your space and you can bring whatever you choose. All feelings and ideas are acceptable in the room and everything is confidential. Therapy moves at your pace and it is also your decision when to end therapy. I do not try to provide answers, but instead hope to help you to shift things in your world, find your own answers and your own self-acceptance.

As an integrative counsellor, I use many different approaches to suit the client. I am interested in your thoughts, feelings and behaviour now in the present, as well as in the past. Using Object Relations (theories from Melanie Klein, Donald Winnicott and John Bowlby) and Malan's triangles, I hope to understand early attachment patterns in relation to current relationships. I would hope to explore early childhood and family dynamics through genograms (essentially a family tree) and help you to process unconscious feelings stemming from the past. Creative work can also be a great way to express feelings! For this reason I also use Gestalt therapy methods. The use of empty chair work, sand trays, drawing, visualisations, PICT inner child therapy, letters and journaling.

I am a recognised provider of medical treatment with VitalityHealth.
