Simon Penny (MBACP) Counselling And Psychotherapy
Private therapy sessions in Dorset and Hampshire for a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression and substance misuse
My name is Simon and I am a fully qualified experienced counsellor. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and qualified in MET (Motivational Enhancement therapy), life coaching and stress management techniques such as mindfulness. For several years, I have worked for the NHS and alongside this, I now offer private therapy sessions. I am passionate about what I do and have experience with a wide range of issues including stress, anxiety and depression. My specialist areas are addiction support, including drug or alcohol dependency, eating disorders and anxiety. I have an open, honest and non judgemental approach to my practise and provide a safe environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings by focusing on the 'here and now.'
Sometimes life can get on top of us and talking therapy can make a significant difference to making positive change to our lives. If you are struggling, I would love to help and can offer you a free no obligation consultation (an informal chat to see what approach would be most suited to your individual needs.) I believe that it is important to take the time in this initial session to work together and explore this so that the best possible outcome is achieved and can be sustained.
My approach and goals
I am fully committed to the ethical framework and confidentiality requirements set out by the BACP and work with the Person centred and Humanistic approaches to counselling. These are types of solution focused therapies where focusing on the 'here and now' is a key part of the process towards helping you to find your inner strengths. We are all individuals and have different needs, therefore we respond uniquely to different approaches. I will work alongside you to enable you to meet your goals and find a way forward that best suits your needs using a range of different approaches. The right approach will also provide you with the best opportunity to make positive sustainable changes which will enable you to lead a happier more fulfilled life. Both the Person Centred and Humanistic approaches are built around strong foundations of dignity, respect and empathy. I offer a safe environment where you will be supported throughout your journey of self discovery to reach your goals and live a happier life.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
