About me

My name is Simon and I am a cognitive behavioural therapist with full accreditation from the BABCP, a qualified psychosexual psychotherapist, and a trained EMDR therapist. I have extensive experience working with various problems in terms of complexity and severity.

I am respectful, warm, open and flexible. I have always had very positive feedback from clients and love helping people find ways of improving their experience of life.

My main method of therapy is cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). CBT is a collaborative process and an active therapy- what is discussed in sessions will need to be put into practice in your day-to-day life, where the majority of your recovery will take place.

CBT looks at what you are thinking and doing that might be contributing to your problems and looks at ways of intervening in order to elicit a different emotional outcome. Whilst the focus will be on what is happening in the present, I will help to create an individualized ‘formulation’ which will take into account your personal history and experiences. We will also look at what might have triggered off the current problems, what might be keeping them going, and what is likely to be most helpful in your recovery.

I also practice EMDR and draw on aspects of compassion focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, metacognitive therapy and mindfulness.

To get started, give me a call or send me an email and we can arrange an initial consultation. If we decide to continue, we can agree further sessions together and discuss what to expect from therapy.

I work privately on weekday evenings.

Training, qualifications & experience

I spent 5 years working at The Maudsley Hospital then 6 months as a community-based mental health nurse. During this time I studied for and gained a post-graduate diploma in CBT with distinction, from London Southbank University.

I also hold a post graduate diploma in Integrative Psychosexual Psychotherapy from the Centre for Psychosexual Health (London, 2021).

I completed EMDR training in July 2022.

Working privately as a cognitive behavioural therapist since 2014.
