Silver Linings CBT is private counselling clinic specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
I established Silver Linings CBT in 2015 having gainined a BSc in Psychology at Queens University and completing a 2 year Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at the prestigious BCTC.
Clients can now avail of CBT from the choice of two locations either Newry- The Newry Clinic or Rostrevor (Home address).
What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?
Understandably many people still appear confused by the term ''Cognitive Behavioural Therapy'. CBT is a relatively short term talking therapy that focuses on changing negative thought processes and negative patterns of behaviour in order to help clients feel better both emotionally and physically.
CBT is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence to treat Depression and Anxiety Disorders.
CBT helps individuals who are currently overwhelmed by different life stressors which are impacting the quality of their life. It can help reduce distress and decrease unpleasant symptoms experienced by acquiring new coping skills and resources.
What to expect at Silver Linings CBT?
Making the decision to enter into therapy takes a lot of courage so its understandable for you to be nervous but don't let this put you off making that step in the right direction. At Silver Linings CBT I aim to provide a safe, caring and non- judgemental environment.
Our first session is mainly an assessment, we will discuss your current difficulties and any symptoms you are experiencing. We will then set goals for us to work towards and achieve to help you begin to feel better both emotionally and physically.
At the start of therapy I recommend that we will meet on a weekly basis and as you progress and achieve your goals we can begin spacing the sessions out when you feel ready to do so.
