About me

Hello, I'm Siân, I am a relational integrative counsellor and psychotherapist with a support background in mental health and crisis work.

I'm experienced in working with a wide range of issues including but not limited to depression, anxiety, life transitions, bereavement, relationship problems and low self-esteem. I work online and in-person in Woking.

Sometimes the challenges of life can feel overwhelming.

By having somewhere to come and talk about things with someone who has no other place in your day to day life, can be very helpful. People can seek therapy for all sorts of reasons. It may be a specific situation which is causing you distress and upset or you may be struggling with difficult feelings and a more general sense of dissatisfaction and being stuck in your life.

You can expect a safe, non judgemental and confidential environment to explore and process your concerns. We can't change the past, but with insight and understanding we can change how we feel in our present and counselling can help. If you'd like to know more, please get in touch.

Training, qualifications & experience

After carrying out a basic counselling theory and skills training (NCFE levels 1 to 3) I completed a three years Masters training (MA) in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Roehampton University. I am also a qualified clinical supervisor having carried out a Diploma in Integrative Supervision of Individuals and Groups (Grove Practice).

I have experience of working with clients both privately, within organisations and also within the context of a local mental health charity. I have also had several years of experience working with young people at a 6th form college.

Since qualifying, as part of my ethical practice, I continue to take part in regular workshops/webinars/training courses to enrich my way of working and remain as informed as possible. Some of these courses include:

  • Certificate in Telephone and Online Counselling.
  • Working with clients taking prescribed psychiatric drugs.
  • Working with young people/adolescents.
  • Safeguarding training.
  • Working as a trauma informed therapist.
  • Webinars related to grief, shame, eating disorders and living with chronic pain.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
