(DPS Counsellor) Registered MBACP

About me

Welcome. I offer a professional and confidential counselling service for individuals and couples. I work integratively which means that I am able to adapt my style of counselling to meet the needs of each person. The main approaches I use are person-centred, gestalt and psychodynamic. I work in an honest and down to earth way.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This means that I work within a code of conduct and ethics as directed by BACP and am accountable for my work. I am also a member of CAPPP which is a networking organisation for counsellors and psychotherapists in private practise in the south west of England.

I offer short-term and long-term counselling.

I usually work from home in a village just a 5 minute drive from J.19 of the M5 so am within easy access of Wales, Bristol and surrounding areas such as Portishead, Clevedon, Nailsea and Backwell. However during the COVID-19 crisis, all sessions will be virtual or by telephone until it is safe to work face-to-face. I am also happy to meet outside for walk/talk sessions.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Additional information

My fee is £35 for individuals and £45 for couples for the initial counselling session which lasts one hour. In this time you will get the opportunity to tell me about yourself and ask questions. After this if we decide to continue, I charge £48 per 60 minute session (or £65 for couples). However, I have some reduced priced sessions which I provide to students and those whose income does not easily allow them to access this service. Please enquire about fees if you think that money is a problem.

When I work

During the COVID-19 crisis all sessions will be virtual or by phone until it is safe to meet face-to face.  However, I am able to meet outside for walk and talk sessions.
