Anxiety depression , loss , family and relationship issues can ofter lead to feelings of being overwhelmed and hopelessness. These feelings affect our behaviours and we can begin to do less of what we used to do and find it more difficult to do what we believe is expected of us.
Counselling can support clients to explore and understand their issues and experiences and find new ways of looking at situations and strategies to cope with them
In this climate clients can begin to get in touch with their own wisdom and capacity for self understanding
By doing this then they can hope to move beyond their experiences and have the freedom to be true to their own feelings and values.
My sessions take place in a private and calming environment which is conducive to the counselling process. I have experience as a couple counsellor and offer this along with individual counselling.
As well as my private practice I have worked in different counselling settings and a lot of my experience has been with NHS clients who are referred by their GP's or by self referral. I have worked at the Lilac Centre which is the Cancer Unit at St. Helens Hospital. I have also had experience as a school counsellor, at a womens refuge and at an alcohol addictions charity and I currently run Bereavement Groups at Listening Ear Counselling Services. I have also worked with families and friends of clients as the impact of these issues can affect anybody close.
I am a mother of two grown up sons and love to be with family and friends. My hobbies yoga, walking and golf. I enjoy time in the garden and believe that keeping physically well also enhances mental health
