A warm welcome to my profile; here’s some information that I hope will be helpful. There’s a website and voicemail message on there too.
Life brings a constant process of growth, change and challenge. Many people experience difficulties at some stage in their life; it would be unusual not to experience life’s ups, downs and uninvited challenges.Sometimes these challenges may seem more overwhelming or upsetting than others. At times like these that working with a trained therapist can be helpful.
With over 20 years’ experience I still enjoy those moments when clients suddenly see themselves, situation or problem differently, like an ah ha moment when more positive change begins.I offer counselling, psychotherapy and EMDR, which helpful for old hurts, trauma and repeating distress that is easily triggered.I also have a human resources and organisational career and so am very familiar with workplace stress, employee relations concerns.
There are different modalities of counselling; I’m accredited in Transactional Analysis (CTA) and this approach offers models to understand self and perhaps others too. TA seeks to encourage wellbeing and the ability to enjoy day to day life in a way that is natural and spontaneous. I see counselling as a process of growth and increasing your self-awareness.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a specialist training in trauma work available to qualified psychotherapists. EMDR combines elements of cognitive behavioural and psychodynamic therapies with specific techniques, to desensitize traumatic memories. EMDR is part of NHS best practice.
