About me

I work in a warm, non-judgemental, safe and homely environment, which previous clients have found to be comforting and safe. I like to work at the pace that suits my clients so change is manageable and achievable. My approach is holistic using the Psychodynamic approach and CBT depending on the needs of my clients. I also work with dreams and re-occurring dreams that may be troubling you as part of the issues or as a result of the issues you are bringing.

The first session is focused on what brings you to counselling, looking at things that may be contributing to your issues and bringing them to your awareness and focusing on your goals that you would like to achieve. Equally, these goals may be that you would like a safe and warm place to express your feelings and feel heard.

The sessions are open ended as I like my clients to feel empowered to make their own ending or choose how long they wish to engage in therapy.

My work with children and young people, focuses on helping them to express their feelings through play therapy or art therapy, equally they may feel fine to just do talking therapy. I also focus on protective behaviour work, where a child has been a victim of abuse. The needs of your child will be focused upon when we do an assessment with the you, the parent .

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
