Shilpa Kurakula MBACP Adv Dip In Integrative Counselling
Finding a suitable counsellor for the first time can be a daunting task for some of us. You may worry if the counsellor would be accepting and supporting of you or will I be judged!! Please get in touch with me for an informal confidential chat.
One way of finding out is to have an initial meeting with a counsellor and have a chat about the counsellors way of working also about your needs and how the counsellor can support you. For this reason I offer an initial free 50 minute session which would enable the client to get to know the process and helps alleviate any doubts. After which the length and frequency could be discussed.
I work at a pace that works best for my client and in a client centred way. My main focus would be to listen to my client so that she/he feels heard and supported as their concerns are discussed and explored. I aim to provide a non judgemental and confidential space where my client can feel safe. Each individual takes up counselling for different reasons and hence I strive to work in a way that is suitable and helpful for that individual.
Due to the pandemic the sessions are currently online. I have experience working with issues such as anxiety, depression, addiction, childhood trauma and many more.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
