About me

Hello and welcome,

At this time in your life you maybe feeling flat, numb or confused, you maybe suffering from anxiety or be feeling overwhelmed or lost. We can all have episodes in our lives when we struggle to make sense of our feelings or moods.

I am a qualified counsellor and can offer you a safe space to be heard, to be understood and acknowledged. Using reflection I can help you find your own solutions and ways forward. Together we can press the 'pause' button and perhaps discover what changes you would like to make in your life or maybe you will choose to use the time to explore and unpick what is going on for you. Either way I will take direction from you, you are unique and only you truly knows what is best for you. I use empathy and a non-judgemental approach with gentle challenge to aid your self-awareness. Many people say that they didn't know what to expect from counselling but have found it very useful.

I work in a relational way and believe that within the relationship lies the key to our understanding. When we begin to understand ourselves we can find compassion and contentment.

I work from home and offer a comfortable tranquil space in a private, quiet location in the countryside. My home is in a secluded location and has ample parking. Since the pandemic I am working in a separate building adjacent to my house, the room is large and airy and we can have room to work safely together. It is easily accessible from Liss, Petersfield, Bordon, Liphook and surrounding areas. I also work in an office in Waterlooville.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a foundation degree in humanistic counselling based on Transactional Analysis.

Here are some of the training and workshops I have attended:

ACE (Adverse childhood experiences).
Survivors of domestic abuse.
Self-care.
Working with depression.
Creative therapy.
Attachment theory.
Anger.

Emotional neglect.

Addiction.

Child sexual abuse.

Anxiety management.

I offer creative methods and mindfulness tools and techniques with my clients. I am a member of the British Association of counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I adhere to their code of ethics. I attend monthly supervision and regular training to enhance my practice.

Alongside my private practice, I provide counselling to families at a family support centre.

I have extensive experience working with clients who have physical disabilities, communication/speech problems and learning difficulties and I would welcome anyone with these issues. My counselling practice room is on the ground floor; wheelchair access can be organised. In special circumstances, I can visit you in your own home depending on the distance proximity.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
