Sherry Walters, www.thebrightoncounsellor.co.uk
Hi, I’m Sherry. I’m a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, Coach and Facilitator,
My sessional fees are £45 and I also have some sessions at reduced rate for those in receipt of benefits.
I offer an Integrative approach to counselling, which means that I incorporate both psychodynamic and humanistic as well as CBT, to tailor therapy to your individual needs.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapist (BACP) and adhere to its ethical framework and ongoing professional training requirements. I am also trained in Family Constellations which explores, in individual as well as group sessions, the effect of generational trauma on our present lives and the difficulties that we encounter.
I have gained my experience to date through working within charities and GP surgeries as well as private practice. I have lived and worked all over the world and have sensibilities, understanding and am open to other cultures and heritages.
Vivia en Espana, no hablo fluido pero tengo buen sentido del la cultura y el pais
How counselling with me can help
Counselling can unlock answers by giving you an impartial space to explore your reactions, feelings, emotions and intentions; a space where you can increase your self-awareness and hear yourself without judgement or agenda. I will help you find resilience and to feel increasingly equipped to deal with life’s challenges.
I will help you unpick the complex web of feelings and emotions that underpin whatever is troubling you and that contribute to the experiencing of difficulties such as anxiety, panic disorder, addictions depression...
My clients tell me that they experience therapy with me as empowering and gentle –
“a shared journey that has enabled me see my life more clearly and increased my ability to cope better with life’s complexities”
“I have found counselling invaluable. It’s definitely helped me and after just six weeks with you I can feel an improvement in my mood and ability to cope."
Research shows that positive change happens when there is a good match between the client and counsellor. It’s difficult to choose a counsellor through reading a profile without having face to face meeting to get a feeling and ascertain whether they are the right person for you. This is why I offer a free initial session so we can meet; you can come to a decision whether we are a “good fit” and I can assess from what you tell me whether my practice is the right place for you
How to contact
Email, text or ring me to book the initial session. Often I will be with other clients and won’t be able to take your call immediately and my voicemail will kick in. Whichever way you choose to make contact, please leave your contact details and some convenient times for me to get back to you. I aim to respond within 4 hours between the hours of 8am and 8pm
What to expect from your first session
In the initial session we will be able to talk about what you want to get out of counselling; how you would like life to be different. We can discuss whether you are seeking short-term solution focussed support or longer term exploratory work. You can of course ask any questions to help you with your choice of therapist or the counselling process. If you’re happy to continue, we will arrange a weekly session time.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
