Shelagh Todd, BA; Dip Psychodynamic Counselling; MBACP
Imperial Medical Practice

I have been counselling now since 2003, helping people from all walks of life with all kinds of difficulties. I provide in-depth counselling for individuals for as long as is needful and helpful. This allows time for the full breadth and depth of your experience to emerge within a professional relationship and allows change to take place organically and at an appropriate pace.
I usually see my clients weekly. The first appointment is structured by me to allow for the gathering of information and for us to decide whether it is right to proceed. In the following sessions I encourage you to speak of what is on your mind.
I take great care to provide a safe and responsible professional relationship for you. As a member of BACP I support and work to their ethical standards. I also pay close attention to my own practice and development and have regular professional supervision.
You are welcome to email or phone me to make enquiries and to decide whether you wish to meet me.
Training, qualifications & experience
WPF Post Grad. Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling:
this was taught by Somerset Counselling Centre (SCC) in Taunton to standards set by Westminster Pastoral Foundation (WPF) in London. I undertook 3 years of personal psychotherapy as part of my training.
I have been counselling since 2003. I worked for two charities who provide accessible counselling to the community; SCC and the Margaret Jackson Trust in Exeter. Clients self-refer to these counselling centres from all walks of life and with all types of problem. These services both provided the advantage of setting no limit to how long clients could remain in counselling, however at SCC I also undertook some short-term counselling for the NHS.
BA Hons, King's College London
Citizens Advice Bureau:
For seven years I worked both as a volunteer adviser to the public and on the regional training team designing and teaching courses in basic counselling, interviewing, problem solving skills, and self-awareness.
Areas of counselling I deal with
- Attachment disorder
- Carer support
- Child related issues
- Chronic fatigue syndrome/ME
- Domestic violence
- Low self-confidence
- Low self-esteem
- Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Passive aggressive behaviour
- Pregnancy and birth
Other areas of counselling I deal with
£46 per session of 50 minutes.
I believe the past influences how we live, relate, and work, in the present - often unconsciously. Our present living and relating is also forming our future. So there is great significance in where you find yourself now.
My years of Yoga practice and other body and movement work give me a strong sense of the intimate link between the body and mind, yet we easily lose track of this. My experience helps me to recognise how your body or symptoms may be communicating.
