Sheila Lauchlan MSc Relationship Psychotherapy, UKCP, AFT, SCPI
Going through change, adjustment, crisis, or just experiencing a dilemma that is difficult to resolve?
I am a relationship, couple and family therapist based in Cobham. I have 20 years experience of working with individuals, couples, families, children and adolescents. When people encounter difficulties in their lives, this often affects relationships, and so I focus on communication patterns, and how these patterns create repetitive cycles which are familiar, but difficult to break. Once the patterns are identified, it is possible to find new solutions to life's dilemmas, and new patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
I work both short and long term. No problem is too small, but equally I have spent many years working in psychiatric services, and so I embrace all mental health issues, including bereavement, anxiety and depression. I also use CBT techniques and EMDR to unblock traumatic reactions which have never been processed, I have found that mindfulness can be very effective in managing anxiety.
I also offer supervision to students and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists.

Supervision & training
I offer supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists. Systemic Psychotherapy can link to any modality. In fact it has been called humanistic with a twist. I have run supervision groups in a university counselling setting, and now provide individual sessions in my private practice.View supervision profile
