SHAUN is a qualified THERAPEUTIC COUNSELLOR and has gained valuable experience and knowledge; firstly as a long term volunteer for Butterwick Hospice in Stockton and more recently whilst working for a large NHS counselling service provider in Teesside. Shaun works confidentially and respectfully, building up the therapeutic relationship which is at the core of successful therapy. He believes that everyone has a story to tell and that their story is not over despite the challenges they face and the hopelessness they think and feel. Shaun integrates COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY (CBT) into his work and is currently nearing the completion of his level 5 diploma in Cognitive Behavioural therapeutic skills and theory.
During his work in the NHS Shaun has successfully supported male and female clients, both young and not so young with a wide range of Psychological and Behavioural challenges including many types of anxiety, social isolation and withdrawal, low mood and depression, anger and communication issues, bereavement, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder, relationship issues, bullying and much more. With Butterwick Hospice Shaun supported many people who had been left devastated by the death of a loved one and believes in the individual right to experience grief in his or her own way. Shaun will facilitate counselling to embrace the needs of the individual suffering from bereavement or other forms of loss, working ethically and empathically at all times with the focus on the client's well being.
Shaun is a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), has regular supervision with a qualified therapeutic supervisor, believes in continued personal development and has personal liability insurance which ensures safety of practice.
Shaun is also a part of Hope Counselling and Support Services in Cockerton, Darlington along with his wife Samantha.
