Hi im Shaun, qualified THERAPEUTIC COUNSELLOR and have gained valuable experience and knowledge; firstly as a long term volunteer for Butterwick Hospice and in my career working for a large NHS counselling service provider in Teesside. I work confidentially and respectfully, building up the therapeutic relationship which is at the core of successful therapy. I believe that everyone has a story to tell and that their story is not over despite the challenges they face and the hopelessness they experience. I integrate COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY (CBT) into my work and have a level 5 diploma in this field. .
During my work in the NHS i have successfully supported male and female clients, both young and not so young with a wide range of Psychological and Behavioural challenges including many types of anxiety, social isolation and withdrawal, low mood and depression, anger and communication issues, bereavement, panic attacks, relationship issues, bullying and much more. With Butterwick Hospice i supported many people who had been left devastated by the death of a loved one and believe in the individual right to experience grief in his or her own way. I will facilitate counselling to embrace the needs of the individual suffering from bereavement or other forms of loss, working ethically and empathically at all times with the focus on the client's well being.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), hace regular supervision with a qualified therapeutic supervisor, believe in continued personal development and have personal liability insurance which ensures safety of practice.
I am also a part of Hope Counselling and Support Services in Cockerton, Darlington along with my wife Sam.
