About me

With regards to the Coronavirus I am now able to return to delivering therapy face to face but with safety social distancing measures in place. I am still also offering sessions via online video calls which include WhatsApp, FaceTime, Messenger and Skype and also via telephone.

My name is Sharron and this is my mischievous dog Bella. Many years ago a number of significant events resulted in me seeking help and support from a Counsellor. This support enabled me to gain a greater understanding about who I am and how my experiences have shaped me. It also provided me with the skills that I needed to manage these experiences and develop healthier coping strategies to move forward with my life in a positive way.

These experiences combined with my passion to support others, led me to under take my own counselling training. As a Counsellor I feel privileged in the work that I do and will always ensure that I do my absolute best when supporting others. I am a warm and empathic individual and I have been told that this is evident in my counselling style. I am also a good listener as I genuinely understand the importance of being heard. In addition I am open and honest in my approach and will remain non judgemental in all that I hear.

I have been working as a Counsellor for many years, during this time I have supported GPs by providing a counselling service to accommodate the needs of their practice. In addition I now work as a full time independent Counsellor in my own private practice based near Skegness, supporting individuals with a wide array of presenting difficulties.

I also offer Home visits.

In addition I also offer counselling via online video calls, telephone or other forms of technical communication.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Counselling, a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and a Diploma in Art and Creative Therapy.

I also specialise in Anxiety Disorders.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and I am fully insured.

I attend monthly supervision and I am committed to continuous professional development and so attend courses and workshops to further expand my knowledge and skills.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Testimonials

"I came to see Sharron as I had been battling with depression for 5 years and medication alone wasn't freeing me of the over consuming emotions. I was recommended to see Sharron but if I'm honest was skeptical of counselling at first, mainly due to not knowing a lot about it. However Sharron saved me, saved me from the darkness and consuming feelings. I now fully understand why I had become so unwell and most importantly I have been able to let go of certain events in my past with the help from Sharron and have the strength and coping methods to control my emotions. I now live a very different life, a bright and hopeful one." (Anon)

"Sharron is a genuine person, someone who has the natural ability to really listen and make you feel totally at ease. I initially struggled to open up and say all the things that was racing through my mind, Sharron never rushed me and her patient, understanding and empathic nature paid off. In just a few months I was able to fully open up, gain knowledge of what events in my past and present day was making me so anxious and now with many coping methods under my belt I feel in control of my anxiety! Even now many years on, I still think of my sessions with Sharron and smile." (Anon)

"As an elderly gentleman, I didn't know what to expect on my way to my first session with Sharron. However I had promised my family I would go and see her just 11 months after loosing my beloved wife. Skeptical I was with how Sharron could help me with the loss and pain I was feeling, but with Sharron I cried and laughed over beautiful memories and had found a way to live on without my beautiful wife beside me. So when Sharron asked if I wanted to write her a testimonial I jumped at the chance, as I cant express how beneficial talking to Sharron was for me at that time. I hope that more people choose to put them selves first and talk through their problems with this lovely lady, even though at the beginning it may be hard to believe that anything or anyone can help."
