Sharon Rodden, MA, MBACP, BICA Accredited Counsellor,
Hello and welcome. I am a qualified BACP and BICA therapist in Hale and Altrincham and can offer a comfortable and safe environment for counselling.
I understand it can take a great deal of courage to make that call. You may want help for a specific reason such as relationship issues, depression, or you may feel you and your partner need couples counselling. You may be suffering from anxiety or stress, or have been recently bereaved.
The aim of my counselling service is to help you understand your situation more clearly, explore how you got there, and support you in finding your own solutions.
As well as working in private practice, I also work in a fertility clinic, providing counselling to patients prior to starting fertility treatment and throughout the fertility process. I offer a safe place to talk freely about any concerns or distress.
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their ethical framework. I am also a member of the British Infertility Counselling Association.
I work in comfortable private rooms, with accessible parking and bus services.
Each person has different counselling needs. Some benefit from just a few sessions while others continue for longer. I offer short term and longer term work. At our first meeting, we can discuss the length of counselling and can review this as the work progresses.
How counselling can help.
Initially we will have a confidential consultation in which we will discuss your reasons for coming to counselling. If we agree that counselling is for you, we can discuss your understanding, expectations and goals. We will then work together to enable you to gain insight and awareness of how to deal with the difficulties you may be facing.
I integrate several counselling approaches, which offers a flexible framework within which we explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
