I am a qualified and experienced Counsellor/Psychotherapist. I also volunteer at a charitable agency in Oxford as a Counsellor where I've worked for a few years. I work within the framework of the National Counselling Society and I am a fully accredited member of the Society.
I work in private practice supporting individuals from 18 years onwards. I offer face to face, telephone and face time therapy sessions. I work from a private therapy room based in Chinnor, Oxfordshire. I am fully insured and DBS checked. Prior to being a Counsellor, I had worked for over 20 years both in the Public and Private sectors, working full time in the finance industry. Therefore I can have an appreciation of the demands, stresses and pressures that work can place on our lives. I decided to become a Counsellor as I am passionate about helping people to improve. There are often obstacles, problems and challenges that can enable people to get stuck with their lives and not see a way of moving forward. Therefore with my support and guidance, I can help people overcome their issues and feel that they can then move forward and get back on track with their lives.
I work as an integrated Counsellor. This means I can offer you a range of counselling and psychotherapy techniques and adapt them to best suit your needs and requirements. We will work together at your own pace. I work primarily with a person-centred approach to therapy as this offers you a non-judgmental, friendly, empathetic and honest approach. However, we can ensure therapy is tailor-made for you and also introduce other types of therapy such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Transactional Analysis, if and when needed.
It's crucial that you find a counsellor that you can build a rapport with for therapy to work effectively. Therefore I offer a 20-30 minute free of charge initial telephone consultation so I can explain how I work and we can ultimately assess if we can work together.
Whatever the reason for requiring therapy, talking about your issues can be extremely beneficial. Through my personal experience and professional skills, we can explore your issues and work through them together. I can help with a variety of issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship, low confidence and self-esteem, phobias, OCD, addiction, bullying, self-harm, anger management, trauma.
