About me

Hi, my name is Sharon and I am a professionally qualified integrative counsellor and a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I offer a warm, safe and professional counselling service to both individuals and couples, where concerning issues can be explored confidentially, without fear of judgment. There can be times in our lives when we feel unable to cope or at a point where we feel stuck and unable to move on; I work with a wide range of issues including confidence, self-esteem, anxiety and depression

I offer short or long-term therapy, daytime and evening appointments at competitive rates and student discount packages.

I believe that at the heart of counselling is the relationship between client and counsellor and so I offer the first session for free which will give you the opportunity to see whether you feel you would like to continue working together. There is no obligation to book a specified number of future sessions; the pace and frequency of sessions are entirely up to you.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Level 3 Certificate in Counseling Skills
  • Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Concepts
  • CBT Advanced Course - Level 4
  • Certificate in Couples and Relationship Counselling (Macclesfield Counselling & Training Centre)
  • Certificate in education and training
  • Certificate in Autism Awareness

As well as having a small private practice I have gained valuable experience from working with charities within the Cheshire area. One being a drop-in centre for young people, aged between 16 & 25, where experiences ranged from distress relating to family breakdown to relationship difficulties, drug and alcohol dependency as well as coping with loss and bereavement.

In addition, I have also worked with the SMILE group, a charity which was set up to offer support for parents who, after having a baby, suffer from postnatal depression. I am extremely passionate about raising awareness for this condition, having suffered with it myself.  Subsequently, during mental health awareness week, I was asked to be the on-sight counsellor when Loose Women panelist Andrea McLean teamed up with the charity, to share her own struggles with the condition (photo seen below).

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
