About me

Counselling can help to alleviate some of the stresses many of us are experiencing during these difficult economic times. Our health is our wealth and more importantly, our mental health. For this reason, I am offering 30 minute online sessions for those who are experiencing difficulty as a result of COVID-19 for £25. to book an appointment, please see http://www.needtotalkcounselling.com/contact/

I am an Accredited member of the BACP, providing Integrative counselling, based in Essex. Trained in Humanistic counselling originally; this means I work from a client centred way, incorporating CBT and EMDR to provide an individual counselling experience for individuals, couples and young people.

I am based in Leigh on Sea in Essex after recently moving from London. I have a private and confidential space with free parking. In addition to working with people face-to-face; I have extensive experience of working with people online and via the telephone. My ethos remains the same – I am here to listen and not to judge you.

Counselling suits individuals, couples or young people either on a short or long term basis to help them discuss a wide range of personal issues.

These issues can include (but not limited to): depression, anxiety, stress, panic attacks, abuse, sexuality, gender identity, bereavement, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, eating distress, separation, sexual health, financial worries and many more.

I will help people to explore their feelings in a non-judgemental and confidential way.

I provide each client with a free telephone conversation before counselling commences to answer any questions they may have.

Need to talk? If you need to talk… I am here to listen.

About me -

I am happy to tell you more about how I work and about my experience when we meet – or during a free telephone conversation before you to decide to have counselling with me…but to tell you a little more about myself now:

I graduated in 2002 from university after which I spent ten years living in Ireland. I have worked predominantly for the public and voluntary sectors where I have worked within the substance misuse, disability, sexual health sectors, domestic violence and homelessness sectors.

My personal experience and an interest in working with people has led me onto a path towards emotional well-being. I qualified as a Humanistic Counsellor in 2010 following four and a half years of training. I now work in a more integrative way, helping to ensure that the counselling experience is a very personal and individual one for my clients. I am an EMDR practitioner and in addition to working in a client centred way, I utilise CBT techniques and mindfulness in session – if the client would like to.

I trained in Ireland on an Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) recognised course. I am now an Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My membership number is 726616. My registration number with the BACP is 57722.

I moved to London in 2011 and Leigh on Essex in 2019 and I now have a private counselling practice in addition to other supportive roles. I have clients based all over Essex and in London thanks to my experience of working online with clients in addition to face-to-face.

I have experience of working with a wide range of adolescents, individuals and couples. I have experience of working with people from a wide range of backgrounds, religions and cultures.

I have facilitated and established personal development workshops for groups of young people to develop their self-esteem, confidence and awareness of mental health. I am a trained  Strengthening Families Programme and sexual health facilitator.
